The Israeli army killed one Palestinian and injured another three more in the northern Gaza strip Wednesday morning. The army said the four men were terrorists planning an attack on Israeli forces on the border.

The Palestinian man killed this morning was identified as Mousa Zaiter, 23. While the other three men remain unidentified, they were seriously injured in the attack, according to Ma’an News Agency.

The attack occurred after the Israeli army, along with the Israeli security agency, targeted a cell allegedly aiming to detonate an explosive device targeting Israeli forces stationed on the northern Gaza border.

IDF spokesman Peter Lerner confirmed that this device has been already targeted in an airstrike by the IAF.

Lerner also said that the IDF would continue, “guarding the border with Gaza face a growing threat from hostile terror groups attempting to destabilize the situation on the ground.”

Lastly, he asserted that the IDF would continue to ensure the protection of Israeli residents and forces stationed at the borderline.

Since October 2015, which marks the beginning of an escalation of violence and tension in the occupied Palestinian territories, over a 150 Palestinians have been reported killed by Israeli forces, while 20 Israeli have lost their lives over the same period.
