An 18-year-old Palestinian man died on Tuesday, succumbing to wounds sustained after being shot by Israeli forces late Monday in the village of al-Araqa in western Jenin.

Palestinian security sources said that Muhammad Murad Muhammad Mustafa Yahiya died Tuesday morning in the Rafidia Government Hospital in Nablus. He was reportedly shot with live ammunition in his lower stomach near Israel’s separation wall, local media reported.

According to residents of al-Araqa Israeli forces also detained two brothers—Ayman and Aymad Yaqub Saleh Yahiya—before leaving the village.

An Israeli arm spokeswoman confirmed the shooting, saying that a group of Palestinians had been “attempting to breach the security fence.” When Israeli forces allegedly ordered them to stop, the men “refused to halt” and the soldiers opened fire “at their lower extremities,” she said.

Muhammad Yahiya is the third Palestinian to be killed by Israeli forces in the last several days.

Over the weekend, 17-year-old Ali Abu Ghanam was shot and killed in outside Al-Zayyim checkpoint in East Jerusalem after he allegedly attempted to attack Israeli security personnel with a butcher knife.

Less than 24 hours after Abu Ghanam’s death, a 20-year-old Assad al-Salayma was shot and killed in Hebron after he reportedly stabbed a soldier outside the Ibrahimi Mosque.
