A Palestinian, identified as Sadeq Ziad Gharbiyeh, 16, was shot and killed after allegedly attempting to stab an Israeli border guard at a checkpoint near Abu Dis Tuesday afternoon.

Later in the day, a Palestinian was shot by Israeli border police after he allegedly entered the Israeli settlement of Teqoa, near Bethlehem, and threatened people with a knife.

Earlier on Tuesday, two Palestinians were shot and injured by Israeli forces following two separate stabbing attacks in East Jerusalem.

IDF Spokesperson Peter Lerner tweeted that the first incident was carried out by two people on the Jerusalem light rail, and that a security guard was stabbed. He later added that the attack was “carried out by minors,” one of whom was shot and the other detained.

Ma’an News Agency reported that the minor who was shot was 12 years old. The incident took place near the Israeli settlement of Pisgat Zeef.

Lerner stated that the second incident took place at Damascus Gate, and that the attack was “foiled.” The alleged attacker was a 37 year old Palestinian.

Haaretz reported that a man approached two security guards near the gate with a knife in his hand, and was shot by one of the guards.

Initial reports stated that a Palestinian had been shot and killed at Damascus Gate, but it later emerged that he was in hospital in a critical condition.

A 50 year old Palestinian was also lightly wounded by the shots fired by the security guard.

Jerusalem witnessed a spate of stabbing attacks throughout the month of October, but Tuesday’s attacks are the first to have taken place in the city since the beginning of November.
