On October 10, following negotiations between the Israeli, Palestinian and Jordanian delegations to UNESCO, the parties agreed on two resolutions relating to the protection of the Old City of Jerusalem and education in Palestine.

The UNESCO Director-General, Audrey Azoulay declared; "I would like to commend the spirit of dialogue and the sense of responsibility that led to this result...It is based on the presence of all parties around the table at UNESCO.”

This initiatives were supported by many Arab countries, such as Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, and Sudan.

The Israeli-Palestinian peace talks have been suspended since 2014 after the adherence of Palestine as a member of the UN in 2011.

These resolutions could be seen as some sort of progress in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

As Adjunct Director-General of UNESCO, Nicolas Kassianides, “confirmed the positive momentum ... on this very sensitive issue.”

Some part of the resolution  irritate Israel’s Ambassadorsuch as the appendages which declare Israel “ the occupying Power,” shame their oppressive actions and the non-respect of the status of the Holy City of Jerusalem.

All the more, the agreement addresses “the strict ban on access of Palestinian Christian and Muslim worshippers to the site” of Bilal Ibn Rabah Mosque and Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem and the directives for Israel to terminate the prohibitions of access of this sites.

According to Reuters, these resolutions gave hope to Europeans that Israel will cancel its decision to leave the UNESCO.

However, an Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman declined to comment, when they asked whether Israel would reconsider its decision made last year.

Israel, despite separate valiant achievement, despite the efforts of many, Israel didn’t change his mind to quit UNESCO at the end of the year.

Since Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated in September his ongoing reason as to why the country would leave the UN agency.

''UNESCO deny the connection between the Jewish people and the land of Israel, between the Jewish people and our eternal capital.’’
