Palestinian killed after alleged attack at Hizma checkpoint

A Palestinian man was shot dead at Hizma checkpoint shortly after midday Thursday after allegedly opening fire on Israeli soldiers.

 

Ma’an News Agency reported that the man exited a vehicle at the checkpoint and began shooting at soldiers.

 

The Palestinian, identified as Mazin Hasan Ureiba from Abu Dis, was shot dead at the scene, one 20 year old Israeli soldier was shot and injured, and another 47 year old Israeli man was injured.

 

According to Haaretz, the suspect is an intelligence officer in the Palestinian Authority.

 

At least 106 Palestinians and 19 Israelis have now been killed during the upsurge of violence which began Oct. 1.
