Hebron-based Minbar al-Hurriya radio station was shut down by Israeli forces Tuesday morning claiming that the station was inciting violence.
Ma’an News Agency reports that Israeli forces stormed the station’s offices, destroying equipment and demanding the station’s closure.
They proceeded to confiscate equipment and issue a military order to ban the station from broadcasting.
Israeli forces accused Minbar al-Hurriya of encouraging knife attacks and riots.
The station was also accused of broadcasting, "false and malicious claims of security forces executing and kidnapping Palestinians in order to provoke violence."
Minbar al-Hurriya had previously been shut down in both 2002 and 2008.
The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms condemned the Israeli forces’ violations of press freedoms in shutting down Minbar al-Hurriya.
Wafa, the Palestinian News and Info Agency, reported that The Palestinian Journalists Association has labelled the Israeli attack on Minbar al-Hurriya a “war crime” and a “terrorist” act.
