A Palestinian man was shot dead Sunday following an alleged attack on an Israeli police officer in East Jerusalem.
The Palestinian man, identified as Baseem Abdul-Rahman Mustafa Salah, 38, from the Nablus district, was shot 11 times after allegedly stabbing and injuring the police officer near Damascus Gate, according to Ma’an News Agency.
The main checkpoints leading into Nablus, including Huwwara checkpoint, were closed by Israeli forces following the attack.
Later on Sunday, an Israeli woman, reported to be a 30 year old settler, was stabbed and injured in Jerusalem. The attacker fled and was later detained.
More than 100 Palestinians and 19 Israelis have been killed during the recent upsurge of violence since Oct. 1.
